BABY SHOES

Lots and Lots of....... SHOES!!

I bought a shoe pattern at Hobby Lobby (I always get patterns when they have their $1.99 pattern sale) and made my first pair. These weren't easy but once I finished one pair, I went crazy and made a bunch of shoes - as you can see. The cost to make these is SOOO cheap. It probably takes 1/4 yard of fabric total. (1/8 for inside of shoe, 1/8 for outside). Oh and it calls for a lining to put in the middle... and I just used the same fabric I used for the outside. They are soft and comfortable for your little ones.

I always had a hard time finding baby shoes that looked comfortable. It was also hard because I didn't want to spend 15-20 dollars on shoes that were actually comfortable when she wasn't even walking. So you can imagine how fun this can get when you have so many different selections of fabric in the store to pick for your little girl's shoes. (or boys- they have boy patterns).

Another fun thing is to buy the Gripper fabric and sew those on to the bottom of the shoes. So when your baby starts walking, they are practically in their bare feet, but covered and not slipping.

Hats, Hats, Hats

I decided to make some hats for Hailee this summer.

The problem with my sewing skills is that I do not usually use patterns. I will usually find a picture of something that I love so much but can't find a pattern (or don't want to pay for the pattern) right away. My ambition and motivation doesn't last long so I usually have to do it soon or it will get pushed back until it is forgotten about. Luckily, I live right by Hobby Lobby! So I usually find a way to do my crafts right away.
But hopefully my directions will make sense.

 My Directions:
I got some fabric, and measured her head a round and then added a few inches.
I cut 3 inch wide strip the amount of inches I measured around her head.
Cut 1circle for the top of the head. To find out, you divide The length around the head by 3.14 to get your diameter.
then cut two 2-3 inch thick strip around the circle for the brim of the hat. (you're just cutting a larger circle from the circle you just cut out.
Sew the strip to the circle (pretty sides facing each other)
Sew the two curved brim pieces together (pretty sides facing each other) and pull inside out.
Sew lines around the brim to add texture. 3 cm apart (if you want)
Sew the brim to hat (pretty sides together)
The nice thing about guessing is you can always sew in elastic to make it fit just right. And everything is cute when it bunches a little (on kids at least)

I sewed in a small elastic inside the hat, but that is totally optional!

This hat was a lot harder and I don't remember the exact directions I used but if you really want to know, just ask and I'll see what I can come up with!

This is nice because this hat will actually stay on Hailee ALL DAY LONG because it fits perfectly with a bungy cord!

This next hat is a little ridiculous but I love it!
My Directions:cut two 2-3 inch thick strips (the length of the head) plus an extra little more for sewing purposes.
Sew them together (pretty sides together). and turn it right side out when done.
Cut out a big circle (just guess)! it can be huge depending on how puffy you want the top to look.
Sew the circle to the strips (the side that hasn't been sewed) and pleat as you go to give it the puffy look.
Add flowers, feathers, or whatever you want to the front of the hat.
Once again- I added an elastic piece to the hat to help it stay on tighter during the day!

Fabric necklaces

This was a super easy and fun project. I got the instructions from HERE. I love looking at other craft blogs and finding cute crafts that don't cost me much.

I just pulled out random fabric that I had stashed away and it worked. I think most any kind of fabric would be cute... It just makes it unique in its own way!
I made Satin pom pom flowers and circle flowers. I just melted the edges of every petal to avoid fraying.
I also hot glued a broach pin to the flower along with a hair clip so that I can take it on and off and where it either on my necklace, shirts, hair, or belts. They are SO versatile! I love that!

Here are my flowers the at I made all at once so I can switch them out and have different colors to add to my plain colored necklace. This way it will match EVERYTHING!

I also made this bib necklace the same way but hot glued all these flowers to felt and then glued it to the necklace.
I also made earings and bracelets to match.  In order to do the earings you will need:
earing pieces, 2 beads (any size you want), and the metal wire you use to make earings.
Twist the wire around the earing pieces and add a bead.
Sew a small casing about 10 inches long. Tie a knot at one end and drop bead in.
Tie the last knot just below the earing piece and tighten as tight as you can.
Cut at each end. and burn edges to prevent fraying. And there you have it!
